Aston Villa Football Club, commonly referred to as Villa, are a professional football club based in Birmingham, England.

Founded in 1874, Aston Villa have played at their home ground, Villa Park, since their early beginnings. They are one of the oldest and most decorated clubs in English history, having won the Football League First Division seven times, the FA Cup seven times, the League Cup five times and the European Cup and UEFA Super Cup once.

Aston Villa was one of the founding members of the Premier League when it was formed in 1992, finishing runners-up to Manchester United that season. In fact, they are one of just three clubs that are founding members of both the Premier League and the Football League. The club did suffer their first and only relegation from the Premier League in 2016 but made a triumphant return in 2019.

Some of the more famous Villa fans include Prince William, musician Ozzy Osbourne and actor Tom Hanks.

Villa have a fierce local rivalry with Birmingham City and the Second City derby between the teams has been played since 1879. Other, less significant rivalries exist with Wolverhampton Wanderers and to an even lesser extent, Coventry City.

Villa Park has an enormous amount of history and has been home to the club since 1897. Over the years, Villa Park has hosted 55 FA Cup semi-finals, more than any other stadium, and it is the 10th largest football stadium in England.

The closest train stations to Villa Park are Aston Station and Witton Station, which are both within easy walking distance from the stadium. Both stations are only 10 minutes on the train from Birmingham New Street Station.

Villa have experienced some ups and downs over the last few years, but things are now looking pretty exciting and the club can look forward to European football coming to Villa Park in the 2023/2024 season!
