TOURIST TRIP IN SUDAN
Experience:
DAY 1: Following your arrival in Khartoum, you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to the hotel for your first night stay.
DAY 2: Citytour in Khartoum and lunch in local restaurant. Back to hotel Overnight House of the Khalifa in Omdurman now transformed in museum, mausoleum of Mahdi, bazaar of Omdurman, National Museum housing the salvaged temples of Upper Nubia and frescoes from cathedral of Faras.
DAY 3: Visit of the cultic centre Khartoum-Nagaa. In the morning, drive to the ancient cultic centre of Nagaa with meroitic temple of Amun, roman chapel and Lion temple. Night in tent in Nagaa.
DAY 4: Visit of important archaeological sites in Nagaa-Musawwarat-Meroe. Drive 20 km to Musawwarat es Sufra, extended temple area with rare elephant depictions. Continue to the small town of Shendi, 80 km and then 30 km to Meroe. Visit of the largest pyramid cemetery of the Nile valley, dozens of black pyramids rise from the sand. Night in tent in front of the pyramids of Meroe.
DAY 5: Meroe-Damer-Bayouda Desrt- Deir Ghazali. In the morning, possibility to take a stroll and photograph the pyramids. Then drive 100 km to El Damer crossing the Nile to Umm Tuyur on the west bank. Afterwards the route leads through the Bayouda Desert for 400 km to Deir Ghazali. Night in tent near Deir Ghazali.
DAY 6: Deir Ghazali-Nuri-El KurruJebel Barkal. Visit to ancient monastery of Deir Ghazali, and then drive 25 km ti Nuri. Visit the cemetery containing the pyramids of the 26th dynasty, among them that of Pharaoh Taharqa. Afterwards drive to Karima crossing the Nile and visit the necropolis of El Kurru, with subterranean tomb of King Tanwetamani, decorated in the classical Pharaonic style. Drive to Jebel Bakal, ascent to the top and then visit to the great temple of Amun of Napata, the most important religious centre of Kush, dating back the 12th century BC. Night in tent near the Jebel Barkal.
DAY 7: Jebel Barkal-Kerma-Soleb. Drive to Kerma, capital of Upper Nubia during the 3rd and 2nd millennium BC. Visit the Diffufa, a large mud brick construction slightly younger than the Giza pyramids. Drive to the village of Kerma for provisions, then drive to the North through colourful Nubian villages to wawa, crossing the Nile to visit temple of Soleb, a Nubian copy of the temples of Egyptian New Kingdom, with pillars reminiscent of Luxor temples. Night in a local house.
DAY 8: Soleb-Old Dongola. In the morning, drive to Old Dongola, formerly Christian and later Islamic capital of Nubia. Night in tent in Old Dongola.
DAY 9: Old Dongola-OmdurmanKhartoum, rest in hotel until the departure. After visiting Dongola, return to Khartoum in the afternoon. Time to rest in hotel and then transfer to the airport and departure.

The tourist trip has the duration of 9 days (8 nights).

Availability:
All the year. The best period for visiting Sudan is October-April. The Climate in this period is pleasantly warm, with considerable temperature range between day and night (+20° difference).
