The Experience
You will begin your journey back 1,000 years into Edinburgh’s dark and twisted history with a 70-minute interactive experience filled with live actors, dramatic shows, spine-tingling special effects, and thrilling rides.
As you enter, meet Judge Mental, lurking in the dock and ready to deliver your fate. Continue on to encounter the stories of Agnes Finnie, a shopkeeper accused of witchcraft in 1645, and Sawney Bean, the cannibal who preyed upon lost travellers.
If you’re feeling brave, you can step into the Torture Chamber, where the gruesome tools of the Torturer await, then venture into Mary King’s Close to meet the Foul Clenger, who will reveal the horrid truth of the plague that ravaged Edinburgh. From here, enter Loch Leven Castle, the infamous prison of Mary Queen of Scots, where she spent nearly a year awaiting her execution.
Transform into a 19th-century medical student and witness Dr Knox perform an autopsy on a body suspiciously delivered by Edinburgh’s most notorious serial killers, Burke and Hare. In 1828, when anatomy schools faced a shortage of bodies, Burke and Hare found a horrifying solution—murder for profit. But be warned, it seems they may still be searching for their next victim.
Only one question remains: will you dare to enter the dungeon?
