The Experience
If you’re curious about how helicopters operate in real-world airspace, the Pathfinder Helicopter Flight is a great place to start.
This 15-minute private flight for up to three people departs from Redhill Aerodrome and follows a set of Visual Reporting Points (VRPs) commonly used by pilots.
Your flight path includes Buckland Park Lake, Godstone village, Oxted and the M23/M25 interchange. While in the air, your pilot will walk you through how each VRP is used and how flights are managed in Redhill’s controlled airspace, part of the surrounding Gatwick zone.
You’ll hear actual radio calls, see how location awareness works in practice and get a better understanding of ATC procedures.
This isn’t a lesson, but it’s ideal for aviation fans or anyone curious about how pilots think and operate. Your package includes professional pilot, safety briefing and all charges.
The aircraft used is a Robinson R44, giving all passengers clear views throughout the flight.
