The Experience
You will begin your journey at Aldwych station, a historic site that first opened in 1907 and remained in service until its closure in 1994. Despite its original design for heavy traffic, the station's lesser footfall over time has allowed its unique history to unfold.
As you explore, you’ll uncover the station's fascinating past, including its role as a refuge during the Blitz and its appearances in films and TV shows such as The ABC Murders (2018), Darkest Hour (2017), Sherlock (2014), and Atonement (2007).
The tour will guide you through the former Piccadilly line terminus, where you will visit the iconic ticket hall, original lifts, abandoned platforms, tunnels, and interconnecting walkways, some of which remain unseen by the general public.
Led by historical experts from the London Transport Museum, this Hidden London tour offers an in-depth experience, drawing on the Museum’s rich archives.
